Canon for Congregational Development

In faithfulness to Christ and His mission, the people of Episcopal Diocese of Washington believe that our highest priority is to develop vital and growing congregations and to strengthen their capacity to fulfill the dreams of ministry God has entrusted to them. The bishop of Washington invites those who share this vision and have a proven history of transforming congregations to apply for a senior level position to lead congregational development initiatives. The bishop places a high premium on collaborative ministry within the diocesan staff and with leaders throughout the diocese. Candidates must be spiritually mature, as demonstrated in their ability to articulate their love for Christ and the Episcopal Church as well as grounding in the spiritual practices of the Church. Candidates must have experience working to transform congregations, solid grounding in congregation/organization development theory and leadership coaching as well as a vision for the health and vitality of the Church in the 21st century in all its expressions.

Compensation commensurate with experience; excellent benefits. We invite those interested to write a brief description of the strategy you would use to help us realize our mission and vision for congregational ministries and a brief summary of pertinent experience.

Please submit your essay, along with resume, by March 9, 2012 to:
