+ John Bryson Chane – (consecrated and installed 2002) The current bishop of Washington, Chane intends to build on the tradition of social justice and mission outreach established by his predecessors. His priorities include developing sustainable new models of college chaplaincy, youth ministry and Christian education, promoting dynamic mission outreach and congregational development and encouraging the development of lay leadership within the diocese. His vision is of a diocese whose bishop is pastorally and physically present with the clergy and people of the diocese to the greatest degree possible.
