It is always appropriate to discuss the fee at the time the invitation to serve is extended. Please take into consideration the time needed for preparation, travel and in performance of the service you have requested.
Note: It became evident that the last published compensation level for supply clergy had been set too high. The Personnel Committee checked with several other dioceses and discovered that our rate was significantly higher, and that it was quite burdensome to a high number of parishes. The recommendations above were approved by Council and stand as the current guidelines for supply.
Transportation reimbursement:
If by privately owned automobile, reimbursement should be at the IRS rate,
currently $.505 /mile cents per mile for 2008 (up from 48.5 cents in 2007).
