Friday is a time to do required organizational items, but also features items to celebrate: what we already have going in this diocese, ongoing, coming to fruition, and recently launched.

4:00 Gathering Time and Opening Business Session

(1) HYMN AND DEVOTIONS: Chaplain

(2) INTRODUCTION OF NOMINEES – Nominees for members of the Standing Committee, At-Large Members of Diocesan Council, and Members of the Ecclesiastical Trial Court will be introduced and give a brief statement. The Report on Nominations was mailed to the delegates. Biographies and statements of nominees appear in the January issue of the Washington Window and are also in the registration packets.

(14) REPORT OF NOMINATIONS – Following each section of the report, the President will give the opportunity for additional nominations from the floor. Nominations from the floor will be confined to announcement of the nominee’s name only, and there shall be no seconding speeches. (Rule of Order 18)

(15) RECEIPT OF PETITIONS AND NEW RESOLUTIONS – without debate, for agreement to consider. A motion to accept requires a two-thirds vote. Proponents mush show cause why they could not have submitted the resolution two months before, and they are required to deliver 500 copies of proposed resolution to the Secretary prior to the Call to Order. (Rule of Order 23).

Please mark each page of the ballot and give it to the appropriate tellers together with voting card #1 in your registration packet.

6:45 Convention Dinner

(25) Dinner will be served in the Nave by reservation for delegates and visitors. See insert in packet for list of cd’s from local parishes that are being played.

8:00 Convention Eucharist

(26) All persons are invited to attend the celebration of the Eucharist. The Most Rev. Archbishop Njongonkulu Ndungane will be the homilist. Music during the call to worship and the service will be provided by Siya Jika, a group of musicians from South Africa. The offering will be divided equally between the Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa and the HIV/Aids Program of the Province of Southern Africa. (Please make checks payable to the Diocese of Washington.)
