The Commission on Peace
of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington

[ Peace Commission Home ]

ISSUES ADDRESSED BY THE PEACE COMMISSION

The Commission on Peace is chaired by Ms. Adrienne A. Allison. Due to the broad scope of issues addressed by the Commission, most of its work is done through a number of specialized subcommittees. The committees focus on areas of international concern and issues that have an international aspect as well as a direct impact on our own community.

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (top)
Deeply committed to bringing an end to the hidden violence women may experience in the home and in dating relationships, the Church has both the opportunity and the obligation to be of spiritual and practical assistance to her in her time of crisis.

With funding from a diocesan Soper Grant, a task force on violence against women published a guide to domestic violence titled, "Is This Your Life?" which is available for download here (as an Adobe Acrobat document) or can be ordered at no cost to parishes and individuals.
