Peace
Commission's Web site
Commission on Peace. The Commission
on Peace of the diocese includes committed members who work to advocate
and inform congregations on peace and justice topics through the following
sub-committees:
Jubilee
Ministry
All over the United States, the Episcopal Church encourages the growth
of Jubilee Ministry Centers. These centers are Episcopal congregations,
ecumenical clusters with an Episcopal presence, or an agency with connections
to the Episcopal Church that are engaged in mission and ministry among
and with poor and oppressed people. In our diocese, St. Timothy's Church
in Washington, DC, is a jubilee center as well as other agencies with
which we work closely (Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington and Loaves
and Fishes out of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Washington). If
you are interested in becoming a jubilee center or ministry, see
this site.
Episcopal Public Policy Network (EPPN)
The EPPN
pursues the fight for justice and peace through public policy advocacy.
This organization updates individual members on what is happening in Washington,
the Church's position on public policies, and techniques and information
on contacting their government official.
