NEW CALLING FOR THE REV. CANON MARY SULERUD
Bishop John Chane is pleased to announce that following the retirement of the Rev. Nan Peete, canon for deployment and ordination, the Rev. Mary Sulerud has taken the position of canon for deployment and vocational ministry. Sulerud will be responsible for clergy deployment, and will assist the Bishop and the Commission on Ministry in the support and development of ordained and lay ministries. Since November, Sulerud has served as interim canon precentor at Washington National Cathedral. Before that, she served as the diocese's canon for stewardship. Although she has provided support to stewardship programs on a limited basis during the last year, Sulerud's new responsibilities make it impractical for her to continue to do so. Budget limitations make it impossible to call a full time successor to the stewardship position, but the diocese hopes to identify alternative resources to assist congregations.
