EDOW Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Washington provides life transforming opportunities in a variety of venues enhancing and strengthening young people's relationships with Jesus Christ, empowering them to have a positive impact in our communities and encouraging them to become witnesses and ambassadors of the Gospel.  Life transforming opportunities include retreats and conferences, outreach projects in our diocese and beyond our borders, and things we haven't even thought of yet!

Save the Dates:

Sept 8th: Empowering, Helpful Workshop(s) and Eucharist, Commissioning, Blessing, and Lunch with Bishop Mariann.  For people who volunteer with the children and youth of parishes in EDOW, and, if applicable, their paid supportive staff folks.

October 26, 2012: Cathedral Lock In

Committee on Youth Applications                                                             Deadline extended to 5pm on Wednesday, May 9th.

The Committee on Youth is made of teenagers from 6 regions of the diocese, along with 2 or 3 adult leaders.  The committee meets about once a month  to listen for what God has instore for the youth of EDOW.  Together we plan and lead events with the hope we will become more connected as a group of awesome, gifted, bright Episco-young people - and that we will draw closer to our loving Creator, learn to walk in Jesus's footsteps, and be inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit.  If you are a team player, a creative thinker, and a dedicated worker who wants to spread the Good News of Jesus to people your age - apply!  Please call or email Jessica Hitchcock (contact information at bottom of page) with any questions, or if you need clarification or more information.

Loving God's World: 2012 Middle School Retreat

E-Formation Learning Exchange at VTS:

e = all things electronic, digital, technology
formation = an act of giving form or shape
learning = an act, process or experience of gaining knowledge or skill
exchange = an act of giving and receiving

This two-day event is designed for educators in Christian settings (directors of religious education, teachers, youth leaders, chaplains, camp counselors, professionals or volunteers) to expand their knowledge of and confidence in technology to nurture spiritual formation.

It will be a real-time opportunity to experience a culture of learning to engage a world in continual change. Tradition will inform imagination. Collaboration will redefine expertise. Through a pre-conference e-survey, participants will identify strengths and challenges presented by technology in their ministry contexts. Onsite, wisdom and quality resources will be exchanged, practiced, and enriched. Expect to explore the dynamic intersection of technology and Christian formation in an age of Web 2.0+, smart phones, apps, devices, interactive software platforms, online gaming, and so much more!

What this event is NOT: a conference for IT developers

What this event IS: a participatory “act” for people committed to a ministry of transformational learning in Christian contexts
