ADULT CHOIR DIRECTOR/ORGANIST – PART-TIME |  ST. DUNSTAN'S, BETHESDA
St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Bethesda, Maryland, a parish with an established music ministry, seeks a part-time (18-20 hours per week) Adult Choir Director/Organist. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with and teaching those with an interest in singing as part of worship. The Director leads the Adult Choir and provides organ music to support worship during the Sunday 10:15 a.m. service as well as for special services throughout the year, rehearses weekly with the choir and provides pastoral support for the choir and congregation. DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION – FULL TIME |  CHRIST CHURCH, GEORGETOWN
We are seeking a full-time layperson to serve as the Director of Religious Education for Youth & Family Ministries. Major responsibilities would include knowledge and implementation of curriculum for the children s and youth religious education programs, specifically Godly Play and the Journey to Adulthood curricula; teacher and youth leader training and support; oversight of weekly Sunday education programs; coordination, with clergy, of the Journey to Adulthood program, including fundraisers and trips; and continued development and implementation of education offerings for parents.

A successful candidate will have a strong commitment to the religious education of children and youth and to the mission of the church. Candidates must also have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to inspire and equip laypersons to support and serve in these ministries. Experience with children s and youth ministries required; Master s degree in Christian Education or a related field preferred. DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE – FULL TIME |  BISHOP WALKER SCHOOL –  WASHINGTON, DC
Scheduled to open in the fall of 2008, the Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys is a tuition-free, pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school for boys. Founded by the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, the school will serve students from low-income families in underserved communities east of the Anacostia River in Washington , D.C.

The full-time Development Associate is responsible for performing multi-faceted tasks in support of the Bishop Walker School 's resource development and communications goals. This position reports to the Bishop Walker School Project Director.

Responsibilities :

  • Works with the Project Director on the execution of all development and fundraising activities, including special events, annual appeals, and other campaigns as required.
  • Assists with the development and publication of the school's written materials, including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, letters, press kits, mailings, handouts, etc.;
  • Maintains and updates all donor and fundraising databases, files and grant records;
  • Performs individual, corporate and foundation prospect research;
  • Takes responsibility for completing all funding proposals, including grant writing and assembling attachments and appendices;
  • Provides administrative support to the Project Director and Development Committee as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • At least one year of experience in a professional development environment
  • Excellent writing, research and administrative skills
  • Adaptability required
  • Proficient in MS Office and the Internet
  • Experience working in a nonprofit setting preferable

The the Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys, a newly organized school serving underserved communities east of the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C., is offering a unique opportunity to become a founding teacher in their Pre-Kindergarten program for the 2008-2009 school year.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Developing and implementing developmentally appropriate curricula and extracurricular programming;
  • Working collaboratively with team members in early childhood education to support individualized education through assessment and planning and supporting families in meeting the educational goals for their young boys.
