As the Diocese of Washington does not have a conference or training center, we use other locations for our events. Some of these are listed here, others are listed for your information. Use the links below to find retreat sites by state.

Owned and operated by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, Claggett is a Christian retreat center located in Frederick County, Maryland. It is available to church, school and special interest groups for the purposes of spiritual growth, recreation and education. Claggett offers a tranquil setting where groups come together for team building and renewal in a setting of Christian hospitality. Dorms, cottages, dining room, meeting rooms, indoor and outdoor chapels, swimming pool (in season).

Located in south central Maryland, the center sits on 331 acres of farmland and woodland, with hiking trails and breathtaking natural sites. The facility offers meeting space and accommodations, and is conveniently located near Baltimore.

The center is situated on a 400-acre dairy farm in the Monocacy Valley, surrounded by the Catoctin mountain range, offering a variety of programs in spiritual growth for both youth and adults, and meeting spaces. Seven miles south of Frederick, Maryland, the center is a beautiful place of retreat and hospitality for adults and youth. Updated December 2000

This retreat center has established day and weekend retreats, but is available for rental group retreats. The main focus of its mission is to provide silence and meditation, so all retreats, including rental/outside groups, should be expected to spend at least 2/3 of the time in silent retreat. Beautiful grounds and a rustic and comfortable lodge. Weekend retreats are $125/person, and $135 for outside groups. Vegetarian meals are provided upon request.

Located in rural Frederick County, MD, near Sugarloaf Mountain, about 40 miles from downtown DC. Open year-round to non-profit and corporate groups; accommodates small groups in an intimate setting and larger gatherings (up to 60 guests) in its expansive facilities. Our sixteen bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, will accommodate 30 overnight guests (also handicapped accessible).

A Jesuit Retreat House the provides directed, private and group retreats for both men and women. Loyola is situated on a bluff over-looking the Potomac River, about 35 miles south of Washington DC in Charles County (just off Rt. 301).

St. Mary's College is a Public Honors College in beautiful St. Mary's County and located on the St. Mary's River. As it is a college campus, its facilities are only available in the summer, after school is out. The campus is attractive, with a wonderful dining hall and other facilities; lodging is provided in townhouses or residence halls. The Diocese of Washington uses this facility often for its annual clergy retreat and has never been disappointed.

Facility is open April through October and is not handicapped accessible. Capacity is 100 for the day or 48 overnight. One large building with a sleeping area downstairs. Sports field and hiking trails.

Meadowkirk is located in Middleburg, Virginia - approximately 40 miles west of Washington D.C.  We serve as a retreat center for  church, school, corporate or non-profit organization use.  In addition, Meadowkirk has challenge course facilities available for groups of 12 or more.

Located at the west end of Richmond this center offers recreational facilities spread over 150 acres. The facility is open year round and can take a maximum group size of 110. Limited accommodations for the handicapped.

Shrine Mont is located about 125 miles southwest of Washington, DC on 100 acres of forest land. The center features hiking trails, streams, lakes and hills and is known for its delicious home-style food, southern hospitality and serene natural surroundings. Located on the 57 acres grounds of the Washington National Cathedral, this historic educational facility offers overnight accommodations and meeting space for church and educational groups. The Tudor style building offers a warm retreat in the middle of the bustling city.

Though technically in Maryland, the 4-H Center is located just one mile over the DC/MD border in the upscale Chevy Chase neighbourhood with convenient Metro access. The Center is able to accommodate groups for 5 to/or 700 people (243 guestrooms) with over 30 meetings rooms and a large auditorium. Facilities are surrounded by courtyards and gardens on 12 scenic acres.
