The Diocese of Washington is offering CDI (The Church Development Institute). CDI is a comprehensive program in congregational development serving leaders of the Episcopal Church. The program is a leadership training program focused on developing the community and organizational life of congregations.
CDI equips leaders to serve congregations. CDI prepares leaders who facilitate congregations in a process of transformation. This includes providing knowledge and skill training for: Assessing the congregation, navigating toward the congregation’s vision, managing the dynamics of the transformation process, and developing a leadership style that is flexible and adaptive to the congregation’s culture and life cycle. CDI's approach to learning and skill-development is practical, grounded in Anglican identity and ethos, innovative, competency-oriented, and community centered.
CDI provides about 110 hours of workshop time, the designing and implementation of projects, work with a learning application team, and readings in the field. The format used is eight weekends over two years (Fridays at 1 p.m. until Saturdays at 5:00 p.m.). It is very intensive and requires participants to come prepared for such an experience.
