Note that this section includes only grants currently available. Grant programs not included here may have been suspended or discontinued.
The purpose of this grant is for the continuing education
of clergy in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. Provides free eyecare and eyeglasses through
referrals from Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington.
Scholarships are available to the children of canonically
resident clergy in the Diocese of Washington as grants toward their education
expenses (private school grade through college). The Episcopal Relief and Development Fund
(ERDF) is the principal channel for responding to human needs around the
world. Grant requests are made in response to emergency crises and urgent
needs, rehabilitation for reconstruction of surroundings and improvement
of personal needs, and development to enhance the ability of disadvantaged
persons to identify and cope with their own problems. Grants are awarded
by the National office in New York, based upon review and recommendation
from each Episcopal Diocese. Click here for important
information to apply through the Diocese of Washington, including deadlines. The Hunger Fund provides grants up to $4,000
to programs that feed those faced with hunger and malnutrition problems
in the Diocese of Washington. A grant for members of the Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Washington who seek to further develop their ministries in the lay order. Grants of up to $500 will be awarded following review by the Commission on Ministry.
The Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was
established in 1925, assists women in receiving post-graduate education
for their careers in Christian ministries. Contributions are made by parishes
in memory of deceased women. Applications are due to the ECW office by
May 31st of each year. Provides grants up
to $25,000 to support housing and services for seniors and handicapped
persons.
This fund provides scholarships to minority
students in residing in St. Mary's County in support of their college
expenses. The UTO makes grants to programs within the Episcopal Church that address urgent human needs or expand on an existing mission and ministry; give special attention to the disadvantaged; and reflect the goals of the diocesan mission strategy.
UTO Grant Applications are available in the ECW office after October 1 of each year and are due on the second Friday in December of the same year. UTO Grants are given to programs that address compelling human need and/or expand mission and ministry. Some grants fund new work, or enable a new phase of work or expansion of existing work. UTO grants give special attention to disadvantaged persons, places, and organizations that are part of provincial or diocesan planned mission strategy and which UTO participation is clearly identifiable. The Wilmer Fund was established after the
sale of Ryton Farm, an overnight conference center owned by the Diocese
of Washington. Any diocesan group or congregation may apply for a grant
of up to $600 per year for one or two overnight conferences per year.
