WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any group that is an integral part of the
Episcopal Diocese of Washington and stays at least one night
at a conference center.
WHO IS THE STAFF CONTACT?
To receive additional information, contact
Sharonda Myers
HOW DOES ONE APPLY OR QUALIFY?
- Each congregation or diocesan group may apply for
grants for one or two overnight conferences per calendar year. A congregation
or group is eligible for a total annual grant of $600 which can be used
for one conference or divided between two. [Reimbursement will be
calculated at a rate of $20 per person per night for those actually
in attendance.]
- Application must be signed by the rector, vicar or
priest-in-charge or the president of the organization. If there is no
rector, the senior warden may sign.
- Application packets are sent to all congregations
in the fall of each year.
- Application forms are specifically color coded by
year and not available online.
- To apply you must complete the specifically color
coded form, and after your conference you must complete a separate reimbursement
form (also obtained from Sharonda
Myers). The reimbursement form must include a copy of the conference
center's paid bill.
HOW ARE GRANTS AWARDED?
- Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served
basis until budgeted funds are depleted, so we strongly urge you to
file immediately upon receipt of guidelines and forms.
- Upon receipt of the application at Church House,
the application will be logged in turn. When all funds have been reserved,
applications will continue to be logged in the order received, since
unused reserved funds are often available for distribution at the end
of the calendar year (e.g. an applicant may cancel their conference
and this opens up a spot for someone on the stand-by list).
- Each organization must pay its bill to the
conference center and then be reimbursed. Each bill must identify
the number of conference attendees.
- Early in 2003, notices of funds reserved will be
sent. Those who are initially unfunded will also be notified and placed
on a stand-by list.
- At the end of 2003, unused reserved funds will be
allocated in chronological order to those who were initially unfunded
(stand-by list).
