Christ Child (Costa Rica)
The crèche from Costa Rica was carved from the root of the coffee plant. The Christ Child is shown in a "basket" detailed with carved straw. Around the Child's head, more even lines have been carved to create a halo around His head. The interior basket itself is hollowed out in the exact shape of the figure, which fits into it like a key in a key hole.
