Shepherd and Animals (Texas)
These figures are from a delightful pottery
crèche made by the late artist Peggy Daniell of Bear Creek Pottery of Liberty Hill, TX. The figures in this nativity are filled with whimsy, detail and true joy (indeed, all of the human figures are smiling). The shepherd, wearing a round, wide-brimmed hat, has gathered his sheep around him, and holds one in his arms. The sheep's woolly fleece is depicted using swirls deeply indented into the clay. To complete the stable yard scene, a little chicken with comb and wattle joins the other figures.
Giving opportunity of the day: Give a llama to a Latin American family.
