Angel (Kenya)
Made out of mud and animal dung by the children of the northern Samburu tribe, this figure was first modeled, then baked in the sun. When the figure hardened, it was painted and dressed. Like the other Masai-related tribes, the Samburu utilize the color red in most of their clothing. Note the figure's slightly eccentric proportions, including his short arms. This wonderful bare-breasted male angel with wings, a beard and tiny bead earrings attends the Holy Family.
