Advent calendar
(China)
This tiny advent calendar (just inches tall) was made for use in a dollhouse. The tradition of using some form of calendar to count down the days until Christmas is a long one, and is especially popular in central European countries. In a full-sized calendar, twenty-five doors are opened, one each day, until the final door is opened Christmas day. The images behind the doors may be sacred or secular in nature. In this small form, there are only five doors, which open to reveal various aspects of the Christmas story: two angels, the adoration of the Magi, the shepherds in the fields and finally the Holy Family itself.
Giving opportunity of the day: Give a vanishing forest the gift of trees.
