Magi (Russia)
Wooden nesting dolls are a traditional Russian craft, usually seen as toys. This set was made for the export market. The largest figures are the Magi. The Wise Man on the left, dressed in yellow, crosses his arms across his chest in a gesture of homage. The one on the right, wearing a rose robe with a decorated edge, carefully cradles a chest in his arms. Note the delicate facial features on the Magi, including wrinkles!
