Peacock, Peahen and Two Pheasants (Virginia)
These figures are constructed of corn husks dyed in deep jewel tones. They were handmade in southern Virginia by Pat Broyles. The set, with its fine craftsmanship, beautiful detail and use of native materials, is very typical of the arts of the Appalachian region. The peacock and peahen and a male and female pheasant are distinguished by bright colors and markings.
