Shepherd and sheep (Indonesia)
The figures in this mahogany crèche were made by physically challenged
people on the island of Java. Notice that the solemn face of the figure, with its sharply defined facial features, is in marked contrast to the shepherd's rounded cheeks. This shepherd holds a dramatically long, curved shepherd's crook in one hand and a sheep over his other arm. Note the textured coats of the lop-eared sheep.
