Folk art nativity (Portugal)
This colorful folk art nativity was made by Ana Baraca in the province of Minto in northern Portugal, in the earthenware art center of Barcelos. The famous cockerel comes from this town, and a figure of it is prominently displayed of top of the stable. The stable itself, with its slanted orange roof, supports the shining gold Star of Bethlehem, complete with its twisting blue and white tail. The front columns of the brilliant yellow stable are decorated with stylized pink designs, while inside the Child lies on the floor, with His arms up and His mouth open wide.
