O gracious light   O gracious light
Though the days are growing shorter, gracious light still shines through the Windows of Washington National Cathedral. This audio visual meditation, inspired by the Phos Hilaron features the photographs of Walter P. Calahan and the music of The Princeton Singers. It is an offering to a God who is “worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices.”

Behind each numbered window (one will be uncovered each day in December) will be a photograph of a figure from the National Cathedral's 16th annual crèche exhibit.

2004 Online Advent Calendar
On December 1, the Diocese and Cathedral launched an online Advent calendar on the diocesan site at edow.org. If you visited the calendar, and clicked on an appropriate number, you were taken to an image from the crèche exhibit then on display in the Cathedral's rare book library. And if you explored further, you could follow a link to a daily meditation, chosen by St. Columba's parishioner Vicki Black, former managing editor at Cowley Publishing. Or a link to a site that allows you to pray the liturgy of the hours at your computer. Or a link to one of the many giving opportunities in Episcopal Relief and Development's seasonal catalog. Our Web traffic increased by roughly 250% during Advent: to an average of more than 1,650 visits and more than 113,000 hits per day.
