Engaging a changing world with
an enduring faith in Jesus Christ

Congregational Renewal and Care

Congregational Renewal

One size doesn’t fit all, and every parish is unique. When you need customized tools or support, look no further. The diocese is happy to provide recommendations for things like parish assessments, strategic ministry reviews, leadership transition support, and vestry retreats.

Parish-Specific Development Opportunities

Whether you need a template or actual consultative support, we are here. Please contact The Rev. Canon Paula Clark, Canon for Clergy Development, Multicultural Ministries, and Justice to see how we can help.

Congregational Care

Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality.  (MSG) Romans 12:11-13

Congregational Care reflects intentional and consistent nurturing of journeys towards healing and wholeness for individuals and communities of faith.  It incorporates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual practices that encourage healthy relationships with God, others, and self.  Congregational Care offerings will be developed and implemented based upon the specific needs and mission objectives of the congregation.

Currently, the following Congregational Care initiatives are being developed in the diocese:

Visions of Healing, A Curriculum for Congregational Care

Mental Health Task Force

For more information, please contact The Rev. Dr. Robert Phillips, Associate for Leadership Development and Congregational Care at (202) 537-6531.
