Episcopal Diocese of Washington

To draw people to Jesus and embody his love
for the world by equipping faith communities,
promoting spiritual growth, and striving for justice

Responsible stewardship is an essential feature of Christian discipleship. This section includes the diocese’s narrative budget, Bishop Budde’s annual request for parish support for the diocesan budget, information about the audits that parishes must file each year and guidelines for seeking a building loan from the diocese. A subcommittee of diocesan council offers guidance on making sustainable and ethically responsible investments.

Audits & Loans

Each parish within the Diocese of Washington is responsible for submitting audited financial statements to the Bishop of Washington. Congregations in the midst of building projects are sometimes eligible for diocesan-backed loans.

Parish Giving

We hear God calling the Episcopal Diocese of Washington—your bishop, your diocesan staff, and each of our congregations—to engage a changing world with an enduring faith in Jesus Christ.

Sustainable and Responsible Investing

Sustainable and responsible investing (SRI) is a type of asset management that reflects social, ethical, and environmental values. The Sustainable and Responsible Investment (SRI) Committee provides information and resources for clergy and parish leaders seeking to manage parochial assets in principled ways.

Investment Fund

The Diocesan Investment Fund was established in 1950 under the authority of the Diocesan Convention to provide professional management of long-term investments belonging to the diocese, parishes, missions and other diocesan entities.
