Ashes to Go
Each year (when not facing a pandemic!), clergy and lay leaders choose locations such as Metro stops, coffee shops, and train terminals around the diocese to offer "Ashes to Go" to those for whom attending an Ash Wednesday service is a challenge.
By meeting people where they are, we live into our mission to draw people to Jesus and embody his love for the world.
Congregations around the diocese have had powerful experiences by bringing ashes on Ash Wednesday to people in the midst of their daily lives. Find out how you can become involved in the nationwide movement to mark the beginning of Lent by distributing ashes at public transportation stops, college campuses and other public places.
