Renewal of Vows and Sacred Chrism Service

Washington National Cathedral, Mount St. Alban, Washington DC 20016

March 27th, 2018

Starts at 12:00 pm, ends at 1:00 pm

The Renewal of Vows and Sacred Chrism service will be held Tuesday, March 27 at 12 noon at Washington National Cathedral. The Rt. Rev. Carl Wright, Bishop Suffragan for Armed Forces and Federal Ministries, will be our celebrant and the Rev. Paula Clark, Canon for Clergy Development, Multicultural Ministries and Justice, will be our preacher.  Open to all lay people and clergy who wish to renew their vows. Cathedral garage parking available at your own expense or park on one of the surrounding streets.

Clergy are invited to vest and process for this service, with red stoles, albs or choir dress. Processing clergy are asked to report to St. John's Chapel by 11:15 a.m. for vesting and briefing. Distribution of the sacred chrism and oil for the infirmed will occur after the service and lunch for clergy only will follow at National Cathedral School's Hearst Hall. Clergy registration form for processing and/or lunch

If your congregation requires more than two vials of each oil, please email the Cathedral Worship Office regarding your specific request. Also if you have any bottles to be recycled, you are encouraged to bring them to the Cathedral at that time. The Cathedral is able to receive sacred items for reverent burning and Tracy Dieter will collect them after the service. Please note that such items should be small (alter linens, small Bibles, etc.). The Worship Office regrets they are not able to accept large items (frontals, vestments, etc.).

There will also be a Renewal of Vows and Sacred Chrism service on Thursday, March 29 in southern Maryland.
