Leadership & Discipleship
The Episcopal Diocese of Washington is committed to inspiring every person, both lay and ordained, to grow spiritually and to equipping our leaders to lead well. This commitment follows from the mission of the Diocese:
To draw people to Jesus and embody his love for the world
by equipping faith communities, promoting spiritual growth, and striving for justice.
At the heart of this mission and our strategic plan is the conviction that cannot we accomplish our God-inspired dreams alone. We follow the loving, liberating, life-giving Way of Jesus together. The School of Faith and Leadership is dedicated to walking alongside leaders and individuals, offering resources and opportunities to strengthen congregational ministries and to inspire every person to grow on a path of discipleship.
The School for Christian Faith and Leadership
The mission of the School for Christian Faith and Leadership is to inspire, equip, and empower the people of God, both lay and ordained, to grow as faithful followers of Jesus in daily life and as leaders of faith communities. The School offers one-on-one guidance, courses, toolkits, playlists, and other opportunities to learn, practice, and connect with others on the journey. Offerings will continue to grow. For more about these offerings, check out the School for Christian Faith & Leadership.
The Way of Love
The Way of Love is an intentional commitment to follow Jesus through seven practices: Turn, Learn, Pray, Worship, Bless, Go, Rest. A return to the ancient pathways and Rules of Life that followers of Jesus have observed for centuries, these practices help us grow in faith. A commitment to a core set of practices and to gathering in a small group where you find love and support for living into these practices is life-changing. If we hope to grow more like Jesus and bear His redeeming love in the world, we can adopt these seven ways as a Rule of Life and find a community with which to practice it.
