Where Two or Three Are Gathered

by | Aug 3, 2015

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.”

And Camp EDOW begins.

Imagine, if you will, kids and adults gathered in a big circle under a giant shade tree. They begin to play a name game. For nearly an hour, they recite names and favorite foods. There is laughing. There are kids helping kids and kids helping adults. There is sixty minutes of a group of about 45 becoming a community.

And Camp EDOW begins.

If you’ve ever been to camp, no doubt you are reminded of that time as you read this. You have a favorite memory. Perhaps and life-long friendship developed and continues today. It may be that you are reminded of many things; friendship bracelets, swimming, canoeing, hiking, campfires and of course, S’mores!

This week at camp will not be different from that. It will include all of these things and more. But, to be sure, this week at Camp EDOW, we will also feel the presence of God. His presence will be obvious in so many ways like worship time and Faithnastics. We will see God at work as campers help each other on the ropes course and as they paddle a canoe together. God will especially be present as we all come to see Him in a new way. Those understandings may be very obvious. Moreover, seeing God in a new and different light will likely be a very personal and private moment of the Camp EDOW experience.

And Camp EDOW Begins.

In Matthew is says, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.” The gathering has happened here on the banks of the Potomac River in Southern Maryland. The Lord is truly with us.

And Camp EDOW begins. Thanks be to God.
