Meet Your New Missioner for Evangelism and Community Engagement

July 13, 2017

The Church House staff is thrilled to announce the Rev. Dr. Patricia Lyons has accepted the call to join our team as missioner for evangelism and community engagement starting August 1. Tricia succeeds the Rev. Elizabeth Gardner, who has served as interim young adult missioner for the past year. In this new position, Tricia will continue to support diocesan young adult groups and campus ministries, but she will also work with churches to move beyond their walls into the public square, form deep relationships with their neighborhoods and develop evangelism strategies for all generations.

Tricia holds a master's of divinity from Harvard and a doctorate of divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary, where she has also taught as an adjunct professor. She has served as an associate priest at Church of the Epiphany in the District and in chaplaincy and administrative roles at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes school in Virginia. Tricia's breadth of experience gives her the ability to reach varying audiences. This and her style of practical and accessible ministry were two of the many reasons she rose to the top of the candidate pool in our national search.

Please join us in welcoming Tricia to her new role. Please also join us in a heartfelt thanks to Elizabeth for helping to craft this new position and for stewarding our young adults this past year. We are delighted Elizabeth will remain in the diocese and continue to be a gift to our community.
